Cave Diros
According to ancient beliefs, here was the entrance to the underground kingdom of the dead. Diros caves located in Laconia (southern Peloponnese ) , on the Mani peninsula in the picturesque bay. In this area there are three caves - actually Diros , Alepotrypa ( Fox Lodge ) and Glyfada. Particularly large one, an area of hundreds of thousands of square meters, and it is open to tourists . A significant part of the cave takes an underground lake on which tourists visit by boat . Standard itinerary includes hiking and a length of about 800 meters to the exit through the halls of the cave , equipped with artificial lighting. The cave is one of the most popular tourist attractions, which suffers from its microclimate. So, if you touch a stalactite tip , you can break off its slow growth , which is approximately one centimeter per century.
